Three happy butts
Prince was one of Angie's favorite buns, and she was THRILLED to get this update from Gayle!
"You probably won't remember me, but I do expect that you remember Prince - a large, partly wire-coat rex in a dark honey color - looks & feels like the ultimate Velveteen Rabbit. He came to live with me and my buns 4 years ago last December... -
Sometimes love trumps veggies
...I don't have a digital camera but finally got a scanner at work, so here are some very crude pictures. As you can see, Prince is "a real rabbit now", complete with bunny buddies. Connor is the smaller white rabbit, his sister Mollie is larger. We had a very slow, bumpy beginning but they have been a threesome for about 2 years now. Prince continues to have severe dental disease problems and had most of the rest of his (abscessed) upper teeth removed about 3 months ago. His overgrown upper incisor roots still cause him to have a lot of tearing, but the other buns are very good about washing his face and keeping him clean. He's only able to eat food-processored things, so I still have to give him a 'chin bath' about every other day. I've been very lucky in that one of the vet assistants at the clinic I take Prince to (Bird & Exotic here in Seattle) has been willing to do extensive rabbit care for me - it's such a relief (for me) to have someone like that available.

When's my turn?
Anyway, Prince has problems but is still going strong. Connor & Mollie turn 10 this year, so they're not perfect, either. I do a lot of bunny laundry and hit my favorite thrift stores on sale days for the towels & throw rugs. The cardboard 'bunny caves' in the pictures are currently draped with towels to help contain warmth & have a very low heating pad on one side under the rugs. I went to give Prince his metacam this morning and found him sprawled on his side, next to Mollie, in the classic pose of a rabbit who has thrown themself down on the floor because they're so happy.

That's better.
Anyway, I wish the pictures were better, but they give you an idea of how Prince is doing. I get the Rabbit Haven newsletter by e-mail and enjoy hearing the updates. =:)"
Gayle, THANK YOU for the update! We're so happy to see Prince so happy! These photos are the cutest!
